Schools

UNICEF invites New Zealand schools to take part in the Tap Project once again this year. Schools can get involved by running a water-themed mufti day, a "drink only water week" a water relay, or any other water-based activity that helps highlight this precious resource.

UNICEF has produced a number of activity resources for schools on water and sanitation. These are available for download here:
5-6 years
7-10 years

We also have a poster available to download which you can print out and put up in your school to let people know you are supporting Tap.

Also available for use is a CD on Child Rights composed for Years 5-8.
This includes case studies and power points on the right to water and sanitation. To order a CD and/or learn more about other free resources available through our UNICEF New Zealand schools programme email Cathy at schools@unicef.org.nz or phone 0800 243 575.

Blue mufti day

Schools in New Zealand can participate, like these girls from Diocesan School in Auckland, who held a dress in blue mufti day in 2007 to raise funds for Tap Project.

Unicef blue box

The money raised during Tap Project 2009 will be used in Lao to help improve sanitation. UNICEF is working with schools in Lao to provide safe water for their students. The children are benefiting from installation of safe water supplies, separate toilets for girls. The Blue Box resource kit, pioneered by UNICEF is helping to teach the students about the importance of hand-washing with soap.
